The mission of the Hawaii Island United Way is to unite people, organizations, and resources to build a healthier community. |
| We Unite ...
People with the simple principle that united we can accomplish more than we can ever do alone. Whether you are giving or receiving, United Way is the only non-profit organization that considers the needs of the entire community, rather than a single cause or agency ...
Organizations that supply a network of services with programs that directly impact the daily lives of Hawaii Island residents. Your doantion will ensure that a broad network of health and human service programs remain intact.
Resources that are indentified and shared so that real social change happens and lives are improved ...
To Build a Healthier Community. United, with support from dedicated volunteers, partner agencies, businesses, community organizations and individuals like yourself, we will build a positive, healthy environment in which we all can live, work, play and raise our families. |
That single idea can make such a difference in our lives and the lives of others. Think of the child who is neglected and defenseless; the elderly woman who may not be able to feed herself; the developmentally challenged man who seeks work and social opportunities; young men and women who depend on the "Y" for health, recreation, training and support.
By uniting people, organizations and resources to build a healthier community, we will make a positive difference in the lives our Hawaii Island Ohana.
Through your support, Hawaii Island United Way (HIUW) can make a difference. Your donations provide funding for highly deserving, locally based organizations that assist people in need.
Raised here, stays here. Helping your Big Island neighbors.
When you donate to Hawaii Island United Way, you can directly help numerous, non-profit agencies that operate right here on our island. These funds go toward helping real people in need, whether they live in Hilo, Hamakua, Puna, Kohala, Kona or Ka'u. In fact, more than 98% of all funds raised here, stay here. You can be sure of it.
Essential health and human service programs include substance abuse treatment, services for the mentally and physically challenged, emergency shelter, food and health care for the homeless, youth recreation and family support services, just to name a few.
So please help us to continue support for these caring agencies. It's simple to authorize a payroll deduction or electronic fund transfer. Together, we can all improve the quality of life for thousands of Big Island residents.
A focus on outcomes.
Like many United Way organizations, Hawaii Island United Way is now committed to focusing on outcomes, or results, of our programs. This strategy brings about considerable benefits, including more effective stewardship of donor dollars, valuable feedback for improving quality and greater evidence that the services provided by our agencies produce positive change.
