Funded Program:
Island wide Adolescent Outpatient Treatment: BISAC offers intensive outpatient and outpatient treatment services to adolescents who are uninsured, or where insurance authorization or cost containment measures result in a denial, has limits, or is found ineligible. The benefits of continuing treatment without interruption of services, supports ongoing recovery treatment and health for the adolescent and his/her family.

BISAC's Community-based intensive outpatient and outpatient services have begun to close the gaps that have existed and are making treatment more accessible to youth needing treatment. Part of the core continuum of care is early identification, followed by early treatment, offering community-based out-patient treatment as an efficient and effective way to intervene in a timely manner. Adolescents are eligible for the following services: Assessment, Intensive Out-patient Treatment, Drug & Alcohol Screening, Case Management, Individual Counseling, Family Counseling, Family Education and follow-up activities.

Client Outcome Story:
Client entered treatment as a fifteen year old, on November 11, 2007, to address issues regarding his substance use. Initially, client struggled to attain abstinence and continued to engage in high risk behaviors, and admitted to failing grades. Client's behaviors resulted in an arrest on campus, due to his Cannabis use, and a subsequent arrest for vandalism and property damage, for which he was placed on probation. However, during the course of treatment this client was able to address these issues and decrease high risk behaviors, as well as improve his grades and attendance in school. He became actively involved in sports, primarily with basketball and volley ball, and decreased his use patterns to abstinence. He completed all treatment plan goals and was discharged successful completion of this program. This adolescent currently is reporting a 3.2 GPA and will be graduating in May 2011, and continues an alcohol and drug-free lifestyle, no high-risk behaviors; thus, no new arrests.
