Agency Mission Statement:
To inspire and enable Big Island youth from all backgrounds, especially those from disadvantaged circumstances, to become productive and responsible citizens by offering quality programs in a safe and caring environment.
 
 
Funded Program:
The POSITIVE Place for Teens: is designed to attract teens to participate in out-of-school programs relating to the following positive outcomes: School success, positive health behaviors, and positive character development. The Club provides the opportunity for teens to "hang-out" with their peers and value the friendships they build. The intent is to provide a safe place for teens to learn and grow, form ongoing healthy relationships with caring adult professionals, and to offer activities that promote a sense of competence, usefulness, belonging and empowerment.
 
 
Client Outcome Story: Krysta-Lynn Wong, age 15, grade 10, raised by her grandmother: attends Pahoa High School and maintains a 3.0 GPA, member of Pahoa BGC for 4 years, Keystone Club President, Attends the club daily – serves as Teen Volunteer in programming for younger youth, successfully completed Stay SMART prevention program and became SMART Leader, performed over 60 hours service to the community in the last 12 months. Life goal: to attend college, earn a degree, and be forever with the Boys and Girls Club.
