Funded Program:
Independent Living Services: The independent living program is to help those served to live independently in the community. By providing services and information to consumers in regrads to housing, the hiring of personal assistants, and gaining independent living skills, allowing consumers to exercise personal choice and decision making and become better advocates for themselves.
 
 

Client Outcome Story:  A man with cerebral palsy had been living in Hilo Medical Center’s Extended Care for 10 years. He did not want to return to the hospital. HCIL staff members helped him secure housing, contacted the appropriate agencies to provide home health services and skilled nursing to keep him safe and independently fully integrated into the community.
