The FRIENDS of the Children's Justice Center of East Hawaii is a non-profit, tax-exempt organization that was formed by concerned community members in 1990 to help establish the Children's Justice Center and to support its programs.

Agency Mission Statement:
The mission of the FCJCEH is to help sexually, physically, emotionally, abused and neglected children. We do this in partnership with the Children's Justice Center of East Hawaii, by providing funds and resources to support the needs of these children. the Friends offer hope, encouragement, and opportunity for victims of child abuse.

Funded Program:
Special Needs and Enhancement, Prevention and Education: The intent of the special needs and Enhancement, Prevention and Education Program is to positively impact on improving abused and neglected children's self esteem and self confidence, to provide funds which will meet the emergency and enhancement needs of abused and neglected children, and to provide community education which can decrease the number of incidents of child abuse and break the cycle of abuse.

Client Outcome Story: Child 'X' (11) a victim of sexual abuse, is one of six siblings (several also abused), living with extended family due to parent's homelessness. Mother is single parent, working but struggling financially. A request was made to purchase school supplies/clothing. By providing these funds, the child was able to participate in school activities and "fit-in" with peers. Funds also helped to facilitate a positive learning experience and enhance child's self esteem, while also easing family stress.
