Agency Mission Statement:
Providing Hawaii County with the tools and resources necessary to obtain self sustainability.
Funded Program:
Hawaii First Community Resource Center: The purpose of this program shall be to strengthen Hawaii Island communities by maintaining or creating opportunities for community residents, establishment of community revenues, and providing sound financial alternatives to the social problems resulting from our current economic hardships.
Client Outcome Story:
Hawaii First Community Resource Center along with their Individual Development Account program, small business development and financial education training gave the Mehau family the confidence to believe that they could own a family business which would provide them with sustainability, allowing them to also provide service to their community. Today they are known as Mama's House, located in Waimea.
