Agency Mission Statement:
Kona Adult Dat Center's mission is to provide health, social and recreational programs and activities that enable impaired adults to experience feelings of belonging, friendship, acceptance, accomplishment and independence in a caring and secure social environment.
Funded Program:
Adult Day Care: provides social and recreational activities and offers an alternative to premature institutionalization. We help to keep loved ones in the home as long as possible by offering respite during the day for family and caregivers. People in the community are living longer requiring caregivers to continue working to help support our seniors. Day care helps to keep them in the workforce to continue stimulating the economy. Adult Day Care helps to minimize adult abuse and exploitation by preventing caretaker "burnout". Additionally the program providers:
- Services to impaired adults, 18 years or older
- Monitoring of health concern
- Transitional services between acute hospital and home care
- A safe and supportive daytime environment

Client Outcome Story: Sophie P. has been a participant since 1994 (15 years). Diagnose: stroke, lower paralysis, speech and language deficit, depression, hypertension. Daughter Nani took Sophie into her home. Nani began experiencing her own health problems and needed respite. Today, Nani continues to work and still needs respite. Sophie participates in activities especially karaoke and enjoys interacting with friends and staff.
