Agency Mission Statement:
The Legal Aid Society of Hawaii is a community-based, non-profit law firm dedicated to empowering low-income and disadvantaged individuals and families through: High quality representation, Systemic and legislative advocacy, and Community education.
Funded Program:
Domestic Violence Program: The purpose of this program is to assist in maintaining safety and stability for low-income families, the disadvantaged, elderly, or survivors of domestic disputes through legal representation and advocacy.
Client Outcome Story: LASH got a three-year Order for Protection on behalf of a client against her husband, which gave client temporary custody of child and permitted husband regular visits. Visits later became supervised and were then halted because of fathers non-compliance. LASH also got a divorce for client, which awarded her full custody, a vehicle, and half the proceeds of the house.
