Building a Healthier Community ... A Real Life Story

A six year old was having behavioral problems which greatly affected her relationship with her mother. The mother became extremely frustrated as she felt she tried everything and did not know what else to do. They began to grow further and further apart.

The mother found out about a parenting class offered through Family support Services of West Hawaii. A Parent Education Coordinator worked with her to develop positive discipline techniques suited to dealing with divergent behavior. After two months of applying these techniques, a change positive began to take place. It has been reported that the relationship between mother and child has improved significantly.
